Modding to Mars

Designing an interactive 3D model of a Mars habitat using Minecraft, NASA Data, NodeRED, and Watson APIs

Fantastic Five
  • We started with paper designs - making a scale model of our Mars habitat
  • The next step was trying to create it in Minecraft
  • We used Python APIs to generate the perfect dome
  • We used Minecraft mods to let us create a teleporter to get around our Mars environment
  • We used NASA data APIs, NodeRED on Bluemix, and Watson Conversation to create an interactive chatbot inside Minecraft that could answer questions about Mars, the weather and our project.
