Introduction
Ourteam has decided to focus our research on the water problem, specifically problems brought by floods.
Themushroom sonar was born from the idea of being able to provide aninformation service in real time and predictive, on rivers, lakes andother water sources, which, paired with data from the national andglobal weather forecast - Nasa station-, will allow us to predictpossible floods and their consequences in critical areas.
Accordingto the population density and other factors such as industries, hospitals and police stations available in the area, we havedeveloped a predictive map, which distinguishes between areas of low, medium and high risk.
Sonar
Allour measurements are made by special hardware which has been adaptedto our necessities, called Sonar. This is made up of differentsensors:
Alldata gathered is sent to our server, where it’s processed andpaired with the information obtained from weather reports.
Software
Oncein the server, our web app takes the data and the weather reports andallows us to obtain information in real time about the environmentalstate and variations of rivers and their affluents, and thereforeknow the areas in danger in the case of an overflow, providinginformation about the number of people that may be affected by it.
Withall this data, a report is made which, depending on the populationdensity, will be disseminated with a considerable amount of time; inthe case of highly populated areas, the government will be informed;and in the case of rural areas, the population will be directlyinformed, so as to organise an action plan.
