Leading up to our hackathon we run a series of workshops and bootcamps for our hacker community. Started in 2015 under NASA’s Women in DATA initiative (now Datanauts), our bootcamps target women and minority demographics who are underrepresented in STEM programs. The content ranges from beginner’s introductions to tools and data to advanced programming, along with specialized workshops run by sponsor evangelists who cover their services and APIs in breadth and in depth.

Each year we host an annual Commercial Space, Science, and Frontier Technologies Conference to kick off the hackathon weekend. We invite space scientists, researchers, and engineers; space tech VCs and investors, commercial space reps, corporate execs; city, state and federal officials; celebrities, astronauts, explorers, futurists; TV and film writers and authors, all to discuss the future of space tech in New York City and across the planet with TED style talks and panels. We've had over 11,000 viewers of our livestream which covers our conference and hackathon demos.
